Building a Dream…

“People tend to think that in order to start a new business they have to come up with something new and dazzling, but that’s a myth – and it’s often propagated by venture capitalists.” – Gurbaksh Chahal

Gurbaksh Chahal, self-made success at 16 years old, has been a great influence on my entrepreneurial life – a path of extreme uncertainty built on a self-made structure with you as the sole architect. Fortunately,  as we dawn into the era of online information, we can tap into a wealth of resources that can provide guidance on this path from entrepreneurs who have already walked on the road less travelled. My friends and I call this the “entrepreneurship support network”, the road for entrepreneurs is a roller coaster, as Gurbaksh has said in an interview on YouTube, “be prepared to get beaten up.” It helps to have like-minded people around that have or are experiencing the same challenges, this path can beat you to humility that when (not if) you do overcome your obstacles and cross the railroads, you want to help other entrepreneurs and provide assistance as they embark on their new journey.

“You’re going to have more bad days, than good days, but that one really good when you overcome the obstacle will make up for it all.” – Gurbaksh Chahal

Truer words have never been spoken, the present moment is a residual of every past moment whether it was a good moment or bad moment, every moment took its place and has lead you up to this exact moment. The only thing you can control is perception and acceptance, your perception will allow you create opportunities out of obstacles and acceptance will allow you to live without any regrets in life. As long as you carry on your life with good intentions and a good heart, you are invincible to challenges life throws at you.

When I joined the Procurify team, I felt the rush, my entrepreneurial spirit awoke inside of me and the adrenaline overwhelmed my body. If I can describe that feeling in one word, it would be “alive”, I understand there will be challenges and obstacles to face but those are components that build a good life story. As Deepak Chopra states, live life in the uncertainty as this where the true magic, excitement, and infinite possibilities of life reside. I firmly believe that the path to building your dream is more fulfilling than when you have achieved that dream. I have learned that there is a recipe to build a solid foundation for a successful company:

  1. Surround yourself with a great team that have natural synergy. (I absolute love the team I work with and feel more like family than co-workers, you will realize this feeling when the line between work and play are blurred)
  2. Build a great idea that can provide a positive impact in society and trigger change (Procurify’s main purpose is to help companies operate more efficiently and decrease wasted resources. The world is entering cloud computing that allows society to exchange, streamline, and access information at level that has never been achieved before. This is going to change the way we operate business and how we use the internet and it gives me excitement that Procurify is part of this evolution)
  3. Be Passionate. (Passion is the reason you wake up in the morning, the reason you lay in bed awake at 2am thinking on how to build your idea, the reason you make personal sacrifices, the reason you drink 5 cups of a coffee a day to keep working, the reason when you tell yourself that you are going to take a day off but still continue to work that day. It is an itch that can never be relieved, it is anxiety, stress, pressure, friction, and resistance. Ironically those are the same elements that the world uses to build diamonds.)
