In May 2015, the US Bureau of Labour Statistics (BLS) released a nationwide dataset of Purchasing Managers’ salaries across America. We used this data to build an interactive map showing annual average salaries of Purchasing Managers across 235 towns and cities in America, and its remote territories of Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico.
Houston ($154,150), West Palm Beach ($148,020), Newark (147,940), San Jose ($144,850), San Francisco ($143,010) topped the list. So, if you are living in either of these areas, you are probably earning more than most purchasing professionals working elsewhere.
Having said that, the map throws up quite a few surprises — a Purchasing Manager stands to make more money in Buffalo, New York, than in Los Angeles, California. Similarly, Boulder, Colorado, is a more lucrative destination for Purchasing Managers than New York City.
At the bottom of the list is Lafayette, in Louisiana, with $70,970 as the average annual salary there.
Here’s the interactive map: Just click on the “$” sign to find out what Purchasing managers earn in that location.
